What would you do if you were granted millions of pounds and a face that melts the underwear off of any woman? Meet Theodore Ellis, the business man who parties like a rock star, and has more women than he has room on his bed post to put the notches.
Meet Lilly Parker. With a difficult past; Lilly is cold, closed off and emotionally unavailable in every way. Don't go thinking she's the sweet and innocent victim though, she plays the game better than most men, and is the original use and abuse woman.
She's built her walls ten feet high and topped with razor wire, but Theo is relentless in the face of a challenge and Lilly finds herself besieged by him. Can he get in her pants? Or will the unsuspecting man whore go a step further and finally tear down her walls? Unlikely.
This is no hearts and flowers love story, it is a battle of wills as a woman who trusts no-one denies a man who has never been denied.
Cue fireworks as female sass meets alpha male tenacity.
Besieged will make you laugh, fantasize and perhaps even shed a tear.
My rating: 4/5 stars

THE RAVE WORTHY: This book tore me to pieces in the best possible way. I could relate to Lilly and her past on a level that I would not care to admit. Lovell did a fantastic job linking the reader emotionally to her characters. I hated the kind of man Theo was in the beginning, but fell in love with him about half way through. As far as Lilly, her strong individuality and personal journey was inspirational. I can not say enough how lovely it was to have a new take on this kind of romance. I have nothing against innocence and adolescence, in fact some of my favorite books feature main characters that fit that description. However, I'm down right tired of the virginal, naive MCs being taken down by the big bad billionaire. Besieged offered such a wonderful alternative by giving us two very broken and flawed main characters without apologizing for the fact that she is often just as damaged as he. On the technical side of things, I usually hate when writers try to break down that fourth wall. In this case, it's only slightly tapped on in a way that totally works for me. You're in the characters head, and occasionally they talk at you, but Lovell keeps it to a minimum as to avoid that awkward one-sided conversation.
THE GRUMBLE WORTHY: I'll admit, about half way through once Lilly accepts her fate of falling for Mr. Sexy Pants it got a bit boring. There were a few too many sex scenes, to the points where for a while there it's almost all there was to the story. We got it-- they are both super hot and have sex a gazillion times. I'm super jealous of her, I won't lie. But at the same time I think the sex started taking away from the story for a while. What really took away from this book for me was the lack of editing. So many errors were distracting. That being said, most readers probably aren't going to notice this as much as another author with an editor always pouncing on her for such things.
